Pohjois-Karjalan Teatteriyhdistys Ry (official name) also known as Joensuun Kaupunginteatteri (Joensuu City Theatre) is registered as a non-governmental non-profit organisation. Pohjois-Karjalan Teatteriyhdistys Ry is the regional theatre of North Karelia in Finland. It is the only professional theatre in the area and receives national and local funding and therefore is responsible for providing theatre to the whole region. Pohjois-Karjalan Teatteriyhdistys Ry, which celebrated its 100th year anniversary in the year 2012, is located in the heart of the city of Joensuu, Finland, by the Pielis-river in the same historic building with the Joensuu City Hall.
